The Ten Most
Notorious Witches and Warlocks!
by Susan Mac Nichol
I came across this interesting site recently called Listverse.com which gives the most wonderfully useful and useless information about the Top Ten Things in certain categories. I quite enjoy these sorts of distractions as it makes great coffee conversation.
This is one of the lists – The ten most notorious witches and warlocks. I thought this was an extremely fitting list seeing as how Double Alchemy is all about Witches and Warlocks.
It’s a mish-mash of some incredibly legendary figures, some as real as you and me and some where perhaps their true provenance isn’t known and they exist in the world of urban legend and possibly fairy tales.
I picked out a few to talk about as I found their stories rather intriguing.
HERE is the link to the entire list.
He was recognized as an acolyte of an ancient horned god, a frequent ally of Satanists, and the foremost authority on magical arts. As such, his counsel was widely sought by other witches.
Click HERE find out a bit more about him. It makes for some interesting reading.
Abremelin the Mage
The true identity of the 15th-century man known as Abramelin the Mage has been lost to history. However, his legacy lives on in the form of thousands of followers and imitators. Abramelin was a powerful warlock described by Abraham of Würzburg, a magical scholar who convinced Abramelin to teach him his secrets.
His texts can be read HERE.
One of the first and most notorious victims of these changing attitudes was Alice Kyteler, a wealthy moneylender whose husbands had a nasty habit of dying and leaving everything to her. When husband No. 4 started to feel sickly and his fingernails began to drop off, his children smelled a rat—especially when they found out he was just about to sign a will that would leave everything to Kyteler.

There are more on the list, so enjoy reading about these sacrilegious and in some cases, scary beings…
Powerful modern warlock Quinn Fairmont found ecstasy with the silver-eyed and not-quite-human Cade Mairston, but to know true happiness the pair must best both the shadow of a long-ago lover and an ancient enemy who seeks to destroy love, light and all they hold dear.
A BLINDING LIGHT
It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston.
Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks. Could it be one of his own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men…and whether it seeks to love or destroy.
