When They Call by L.E. Perez

Samantha Barry was clinically dead at the scene of a horrible motorcycle accident, when they called. When she opened her eyes a week later, Sam quickly realized she wasn't alone.

What she discovers is beyond her comprehension and sets her on a path back to the night she died. If only she hadn't answered when they called.

When They Call is a quirky little book. It’s a novella actually, so it’s a very quick read, perfect for waiting at an airport, doctor’s office or other appointment where you are stuck waiting with nothing else to do.

The story takes place in Cassadaga, which is about 10 minutes from where I live. I’ve been to the hotel Samantha is staying at, as well as eaten at the restaurant inside the hotel (overpriced, average quality food that was nothing special, and poor service, I give the restaurant 2 stars only bc the building is cool). That hotel is supposedly quite haunted, though I’ve not stayed there, so it makes a great location for this spooky little story.

My only complaint is that I would have liked for it to have been longer, but that’s just me.

I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a short paranormal mystery with a cool twist.
