For almost a century, the Realm’s most deadly assassin, Chalton Reese, has left war and death in the past, turning instead to strategy, reason, and technology. His fingers, still stained with blood, now protect with a keyboard instead of a weapon. Until the vampire king sends him on one more mission; to hunt down a human female with the knowledge to destroy the Realm. A woman with eyes like emeralds, a brain to match his own, and a passion that might destroy them both—if the enemy on their heels doesn’t do so first.
Olivia Roberts has foregone relationships with wimpy metro-sexuals in favor of pursuing a good story, bound and determined to uncover the truth, any truth. When her instincts start humming about missing proprietary information, she has no idea her search for a story will lead her to a ripped, sexy, and dangerous male beyond any human man. Setting aside the unbelievable fact that he’s a vampire and she’s his prey, she discovers that trusting him is the only chance they have to survive the danger stalking them both.
Another book that I got while I was at the 2016 Coastal Magic. Apparently it takes me awhile to read them all 🙂
This is another novella, and one that I finished in less than 90 minutes. Not only because it wasn’t that long, but also because it was so good that I couldn’t put it down. I mean sink overfilling, kids running around with marker all over their face, food burning kind of good. I read mostly when minion is at school or after she is asleep. So she wasn’t actually running around and I didn’t burn food. It could happen though. So if you do have food cooking or a child running around, don’t read this during that time.
Charlton, a vampire assassin turned computer geek is just living his immortal life. Every day he attempts to move away from his past. The job to grab Olivia has his past and present colliding. Olivia, a reporter that is on a hot story that could make or break her career. The job sounds easy, however, that is furthest from the truth. Conveniently another group is also searching for her, and they may not be as nice. Charlton uses all of his abilities for this job.
This is your bad guy turned good guy story. Also it’s the savior of the damsel in distress type story. It is so much more. It is a story about what happens when a family has issues. When you dedicate your life to something that you feel so strongly about everything else seems to fade away. Even more, it is about how no matter what, family is important. If you don’t have family, then you may have anything except for a computer and an image on a screen.
The other books are going to be exciting. This is 7.5 in the series. The whole story line that lingers below the surface of this story is really interesting. If they all have the same level of characterization and writing, then I am sure they will be good books.
