Lynn Tyler has awakened the four core elements in Steam. Sunny, a young woman that has always had some issues, doesn’t realize that they are not as bad as she thinks they are. In fact she is a witch, and a pretty powerful one at that, if she lets go of her past.
Sloan, a water handler who lost his wife many years previously is not ready for a new fire handlers, even though he knows it must happen sooner or later. However, when Sunny arrives, Sloan is not ready for the emotions that are starting to grow inside of him. He felt his whole life that his wife was his soul mate, but this young woman is making him rethink things.
While they are trying to figure out what is going on between them, there are rival clans and covens that are vying for territory. The only hope is to unravel the secrets and lies. That may mean bringing back a old ally that hasn’t been seen in a couple of decades.
I enjoy books about the four elements and I really think there should be more. While it is a part of our daily life, there is so much mystery that surrounds them. Obviously one of my favorite movies is the 5th element :). I even have a multi-pass that I got in a loot crate last year I think. It was from loot crate, I just don’t know if it was last year or the year before.
Anywho, back to the story. This is a romance, obviously, but it does have some pretty strong paranormal elements. These elements make up the majority of the plot with the romance being a secondary story. I enjoyed this, as sometimes the paranormal gets pushed behind for the romance. The story oftentimes hurts because of it. This however, is strong on both fronts.
I have many questions regarding the clan. Not to mention where they came from, the other clans/covens, and why without their leader they can’t sleep. Oh and does the leader have a bell or something to call back people? There are a lot of questions that future books should answer.
