Must Be Quacking Up
"I don't think so Kenz." he said, no grimace or frown, just a serious look on his face, parental almost. Condescending was another word that came to mind.'Oh, ok, no worries." she laughed to cover her embarrassment but she knew her face looked as if she had just played the 50-minute game of soccer in the sun instead of her niece."Ok well see you round." she shook her arm from where he still grasped her and started for the car, pretty sure she was walking weird, knowing she was. There was something distinctly duck like about her walk, dear god she was waddling. Yep definitely a waddle. What the hell was wrong with her?"Kenzie wait." he followed her.Even if she ran she wouldn't be able to lose him, especially now that she had the speed and agility of Huey, Dewey and Louie combined, or maybe it was just Donald, who would be the most uncoordinated out of the four she pondered to herself idiotically. She stopped, not sure what he was going to say but wishing the ground would swallow her up, grateful her family hadn't overheard her be shot down so brutally, when she didn't even want to hang out with this with this guy, well at least she didn't think she did 5 minutes ago.Oh god, she thought, Dash witnessing this would be even worse, she could imagine how much he would torture her.
Single Rider - Skye Leah Collett
This is a story about a woman named Kenzie.A woman who knows what she wants and likes things just the way they are, thank you very much. This is also a story about a man named Max. Max can be a real pain in the ass.And finally, this is a story about Dash, ex-husband extraordinaire, who likes to get down to the Scissor Sisters and parties a little too much. And Katie, the best friend who parties far too much and can expertly defend herself against sexual harassment accusations. And Claudia, sister, mother and head of the school parent's association, long time tea drinker. The chalk to Kenzie's cheese. And Michael, the one that got away.

I decided to start with the latest 5 star book. Single Rider is the story of Kenzie, a 30s single woman who lives in Australia. Dash is her ex-husband, Kate is her best friend, Max is a guy who is wishy washy like a washing machine, and Ms. Mae. There are more characters but those are the ones we will talk about today.
So Kenzie likes to party, likes to do drugs, likes to sit at the pool with Dash. Yes, Ex-husband, yes friends, not friends with bennies. She is a woman who knows what she wants, sometimes, and gets what she wants, sometimes. Okay honestly she pretty much only gets the pool when she wants, and food when she wants, unless she has to spend time with the family. Yeah so Kenzie’s life is in… flux.
Dash is the dashingly handsome (in his mind) ex of Kenzie’s. They are thisclose to best friends, co-drug users, and everyone in her family loves Dash. He is Uncle Dash, although Kenz does start to wonder if he is too close. I mean what if he was to leave the family, how would her sister take that. By her sister, I mean how she would take it.
Kate, oh loveable, always drunk/stoned/banging a guy Kate. Her, Dash, and Kenz have known each other since ever. Kenz calls Kate for just about anything. If you need someone to pick you up, Kate is not your girl. She has a way of misplacing phones, and then not remembering your phone number.
Ms. Mae, Oh Ms. Mae. She is that asian grandmother you don’t have, but really wish you did. She is everything that a at drift 30 something girl needs. Don’t mention that to Kenz, it may get nasty.
So now that you know the main characters. This story is about Kenz, about her relationships, and about her failures. It really is the story of a year of Kenz, from soccer to scissor sisters, to Max, and to lazy days at the pool. There is drug use and frank sexual talk. It is real. We all know that I am not a chick flick/lit kind of girl, but this book is worth it, seriously worth it.
Not only is the book great, but this was the first book of Skye’s. She has a couple more in the making, and I heard – but don’t tell anyone – that she has a paranormal book in the works. With a CAT!! at least I hope it has a cat, I mean can you really have 5 star paranormal when there isn’t a cat? or a dog? or a dragon? In all seriousness though, Skye came out of the gate swinging, and I think she hit a solid in the park home run. I would have given it a bleacher home run, if it had been paranormal. I have standards.
