My Review
Undeniable was an enjoyable read for me. It is a spin off from Tawdra Kandle’s The King Series. It can be read and enjoyed without having read The King Series. I, myself, have not read the series, and there are enough details given from the series to ensure that the reader doesn’t feel lost by starting with Undeniable. Reading The King Series before Undeniable would give you more insight as to why Rafe is the way he is, but you should be fine if you didn’t read it. I was anyway.
Rafe is a bit of a man-whore. He seems to be running from his past, which we all know isn’t going anywhere. He travels the country doing what only the wealthy can, staying in nice hotels for months on end, eating fabulous food, and enjoying life. He’s also sleeping his way through the female population apparently. This really bugged me about him. I wanted to really like him, and I didn’t hate him, I just didn’t have any respect for him. He is a good character though.
Jocelyn is a bit of a bad ass to me. I really liked her character. She’s got a good sense of humor, and doesn’t take crap from anyone, including Rafe. She is a strong woman who believes in who she is despite a troubled childhood. I rarely truley like female characters in books, they can come off as needy, weak or annoying. Joss did none of these. She did a great job of putting Rafe in his place and keeping him there.
They work for an organization that takes people who have special “talents” and pairs them up with companies who can use those talents for one reason or another. It sounds pretty cut and dry, but it can get pretty dangerous. Even more so when not everyone and everything is as it seems.
Rafe and Joss are sent on an assignment to check out what is going on at a commune down near Savannah. It gets pretty crazy after Rafe runs into someone from his past that he never expected to see again. These people on the commune are a bit crazy I think.
I loved the dynamic between Rafe and Joss. They work well together as friends as well as co-workers. They just seem to fit together. Plus Joss can keep Rafe in his place. That’s a bonus. There is intensity between them that just can’t be denied and I just loved it.
Undeniable has just enough steam and sexy times to keep things interesting without overshadowing the real story and mystery of the book. I didn’t find myself skimming the sexy scenes, which is good lol. Also there was just enough detail to the scenes to make them sexy without making them too graphic for those who don’t enjoy that sort of thing.
One of the things I enjoyed about Undeniable is that I felt really wrapped up in the story. Kandle does a great job of creating the necessary imagery to help you SEE the book. Once I started, I had a hard time putting it down and I love it when that happens! I am still reeling from the ending and am a bit in shock.
Great story overall, and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an intense story with mild paranormal elements and steamy sexy times. The paranormal elements aren’t your typical Vampire, Werewolf, Witch, or Monster elements; these are more mental abilities that are pretty cool.
Don’t let the New Adult classification scare you away from reading Undeniable. There are definitely very ADULT type things going on in this book!
