Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year. The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.
Getting arrested wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry...but the downside is the man she’s come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack's sworn enemy...aka her fiancé.
Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha's heir. Everything he's ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he’ll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving.
But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she's as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear...including his newfound love for her.
I received this book for free from Author Gifted in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
So my other tasks are somewhat complete so I am trying to get all of these done. LOL.
So the Werewolf meets his Match is the second in a wonderful Nocturne Falls series by the wonderful Kristen Painter. She has never let me down in the books that I have read by her and this is no different. It isn’t as good as the Gargoyle Gets the Girl that’s review is going to be published in February during our 28 days of bloody good reviews but this one is really good.
So the Sheriff of Nocturne Falls is a werewolf, a single werewolf who is the brother of the owner of the Howler’s and the nephew of Aunt Birdie who just so happens to be the receptionist for the Sheriff office. Also of note is that he is former military who found that he really enjoyed living in Nocturne Falls and that it just so happens that the leaders of the city needed a sheriff so it was like two birds with one stone for Hank the Werewolf. Everything was going well until his sister called about a female supernatural who was causing a ruckus at the bar. Ivy, who has an ivy tattoo just so happens to not only be a female supernatural, but also the one causing the ruckus, Oh and the daughter of the rival(ish) clan in another state. Apparently in this world clans run states, so there is a leader of not only the clan but of the entire state. States that are close to each other, especially those that share borders usually have to make agreements or go to war. Yeah totally medieval but I mean they are wolves and all.
So Ivy has a secret, and well Hank learns that of the two secrets that she holds, he is the main ring holder of one of them. One that will result in his marriage to Ivy, if things couldn’t get stranger someone is out to get Ivy and will stop at nothing to get to her. Alas though she has a hunky sheriff and a town of rabid, just kidding, wolves and other shape shifters to help her survive to see her wedding day, if Hank is still up for it when her secrets come crashing down around their heads.
Maybe it was because this was the second Kristan Painter book I read in this series or maybe it was just because I wasn’t feeling the story as much. Don’t get me wrong this is still really good, just not a 5 star like with Gargoyle. Okay let’s be honest it may have to do with me really liking the cut of the Gargoyle’s chin :P. In all seriousness this book is on par with her others and is a great, quick read that you will want to snuggle with some hot chocolate.
