It’s getting closer every day! This time next week, I will be hanging out in person with the lovely Paige Tyler, who has been nice enough to share with us her story of why she came to hear about Coastal Magic!
Please give Paige a Fang Freakin’ welcome by saying hi and letting us know if you are going to be joining us at Coastal Magic. Don’t forget to come by her table during the Charity Signing and mention you saw this blog post to be entered for a drawing for a $10 Amazon gift card and possibly some extra goodies if you’ve been good little readers!
I will say ta ta now and let Paige take over from here. Enjoy!
I’m so excited about being a featured author at the Coastal Magic Convention in Daytona Beach! The funny thing is, even though we live in Florida, I’d never even heard of this event. How I found out about it is kind of amazing.
Right before the RT Booklovers Convention last year in New Orleans, I stumbled across the FB page for author Tere Michaels, and realized that she’s actually one of my best friends from high school. I won’t say how long ago high school was for us, but suffice to say, it’s been a long time since I talked to her.
We chatted back and forth, and I found out she’d be going to RT, too. We got together while in New Orleans, nibbled on a few beignets at Café Du Monde, and talked about high school, band (yes, we were both band nerds), and of course chatted about writing and the paths our chosen careers have taken us.
I had so much fun catching up with Tere, but as always, I also learned a lot from her about the industry (no matter how long I do this, I’m still learning more every time I talk to someone!). One thing that caught my attention during our conversation was the Coastal Magic event in Daytona. I was shocked when she told me there was a great conference right in our own backyard that focused on paranormal and urban fantasy. I never knew!
She said it was an excellent place to meet readers who really love paranormal books, and since paranormal is right up my alley, I knew I had to go.
I’ll be bringing book from my two new series from Sourcebooks with me. HER PERFECT MATE (X-OPS 1) and HER LONE WOLF (X-OPS 2) and HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF (Special Wolf Alpha Team –SWAT 1). I really think you readers are going to love them! Here’s a little bit about both series:
The X-OPS Series revolves around the Department of Covert Operations, a top secret organization that exists within the Department of Homeland Security. They pair the very best soldiers, law enforcement people, and spies together with shifters—humans who have special animal attributes in their DNA. Think of it like pairing one of them with one of us. They take on impossible missions that few people in the world will ever know about.
In HER PERFECT MATE, the heroine is a sexy, but deadly feline shifter named Ivy Halliwell who gets teamed up with yet another soldier for a partner—and she definitely isn’t thrilled about it. Both her previous partners hated her because she was a freak in their eyes, and she figures this new guy won’t be any different. But Captain Landon Donovan is Special Forces, so he’s used to taking crazy situations in stride. He’s also gorgeous and smells delicious! They very quickly discover they aren’t just amazing partners on the job, but also amazing partners of the romantic variety as well. Unfortunately, relationships between partners is somewhat frowned upon in the DCO, so they have to deal with that issue while at the same time deal with the threat of people trying to kill them every few chapters. HER PERFECT MATE is a paranormal shifter story that combines romance, action, suspense, and military elements into one exciting package that will keep you up reading late into the night—I promise.
He’s a High-Octane Special Ops Pro
When Special Forces Captain Landon Donovan is chosen for an assignment with the Department of Covert Operations, he’s stunned to find his new partner is a beautiful woman who looks like she couldn’t hurt a fly, much less take down a terrorist.
She’s No Kitten
Ivy Halliwell isn’t your average covert op. Her feline DNA means she can literally bring out the claws when things get dicey. She isn’t thrilled to be paired with yet another military grunt, but Landon is different. He doesn’t think she’s a freak-and he’s smokin’ hot. Soon they’re facing
a threat even greater than anyone imagines…and an animal magnetism impossible to ignore.
In HER LONE WOLF, all the shadowy intrigue from Book 1 continues against the backdrop of the DCO sending Clayne Buchanan, a wolf shifter with a bad attitude, out to deal with a possible rogue shifter who might have turned into a serial killer. Clayne prefers to work alone, only this time it’s not going to happen that way. To get the job done, he’s going to be forced to work with the one person on the planet that he’d rather claw his own eyes out rather than see again—his ex-partner Danica Beckett.
Leaving him was Impossible…
It took everything she had for FBI Special Agent Danica Beckett to walk away from the man she loved. But if she wants to save his life, she has to keep her distance. Now, with a killer on the loose and the stakes higher than ever before, the Department of Covert Ops is forcing these former lovers into an uneasy alliance…whether they like it or not.
Seeing her again is even worse…
The last thing Clayne Buchanan wants is to be shackled to the woman who broke his heart. She gets under his skin in a way no one ever has and makes him want things he has no right to anymore. All he has to do is suffer through this case and he can be free of her for good. But when Clayne finds out why Danica left in the first place, everything he’s tried to bury comes roaring back-and there’s no way this wolf shifter is going to let her get away this time.
SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) Series:
The SWAT Series is about a pack of alpha werewolves working for the city of Dallas as their SWAT Team—as in Special Wolf Alpha Team. They’re tight. They’re on target. They’re as alpha as men can get. They’re pretty hunky, too!
In HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF, the hero, Gage Dixon, is the SWAT Commander who has spent the past few years slowly putting his team together one werewolf at a time and ending up with a pack that works together better than anyone in the business. But Gage has his hands full with this pack. As alphas, his guys tend to be a bit aggressive, prone to snarling and fighting each other, and they have a habit of destroying a lot of property when they start bumping heads. But as an alpha among alphas, he keeps them in line, with his biggest focus on making sure nobody ever learns their secret. But for all his hard work, someone has become curious. Mackenzie Stone (Mac to her friends) is a reporter for a local paper who decides these guys are a little too good. They’re the toast of the town with an incredible arrest and conviction rate and a reputation of going after the worst of the worst in a town full of really bad people. Everyone loves them, even the Girl Scouts! But when a guy in prison convinces her the local SWAT team is on some kind of performance enhancing drug, Mac decides to work her way into the good graces of the Darlings or Dallas and expose them for what they really are, Gage isn’t stupid. He knows exactly what Mackenzie is up to, and he’ll do anything to protect his pack. But when both of them start to feel the undeniable connection between them growing, who’s going to back down and risk everything for a shot at The One.
I’ll probably bring a couple other books with me, too, like ANIMAL ATTRACTION, Book 1 of my Alaskan Werewolf Series, so if I have anyone out there looking to pick this one up (as well as my other books), hope you’ll come see me at the book signing!
I’m also doing a meet-n-greet, as well as several panels (Forever & Ever – Keeping a series fresh and interesting when there’s no real end in sight; The Scooby Gang – The importance of “side” or “support” characters in our favorite stories; and Kick-Ass Heroines – Our favorite leading ladies . How important is it to have a heroine who is both soft and strong?)
See you at the beach! J
