As she starts piecing together the fragmented memories of her past and her moroi heritage, the passion of old love reignites. Until she discovers that the triggering of her vampire gene may have been foul play with dire consequences - and Xandru Roca, the epic love she’d left behind, has something to do with it all!
This is a New Adult paranormal romance in the Havenwood Falls series of New Adult and Adult fantasy novellas featuring a variety of supernatural creatures. The series is a collaborative effort by multiple authors. Each book is generally a stand-alone, so you can read them in any order, although some authors will be writing sequels to their own stories. Please be aware when you choose your next read. We do recommend that you read Forget You Not first as an introduction to the town and its eccentricities.
Havenwood is a place like no other, well I am sure that it is a place like others. For example, Nocturne Falls by Kristen Painter is similar to Havenwood. So anyways to the story.
Young Kaela is a up and coming college student whose plan is to attend medical school and become a doctor. Her upbringing was crap, and so she wants to push aside the past and focus on the future. That is a little hard when her previous boyfriend is now getting busy with her previous best friend. It isn’t their fault they don’t remember her. Oh yeah… Someone turned Kaela into a vampire without her permission. No big thing, I mean she has Sindi, her roommate and vampy buddy. She has a nighttime job as a bartender and waitress. Drinking animal blood and never killing a human helps her.
She cannot maintain her previous life or career choice. Overall she is not that upset with how things turned out. That is until an email she didn’t know existed popped up on her laptop. Thinking it is a fake, she doesn’t really pursue it, but things begin to happen that cause her to rethink her future. Like using powers that Sindi doesn’t have in a fit of emotion.
So she decides she is going to take the job, which means leaving Atlanta and moving to BFE Colorado, or in this case Havenwood. This is where things get creepy, sexy, scary, and just downright painful for not only Kaela, but for others in the community. Kaela must figure out if she wants to put herself and others through this, or if going back to Atlanta is safer for all concerned.
This is the first in many Novellas by numerous authors. Kind of like a collaboration of authors who have the same generalized world but write about different characters and issues. With millions of books being published, collections get lost. When two authors I adore share it, I know something good is about to happen.
I really enjoyed this novella and I hope that you will as well. It is fun, it is heartwarming, and it is at times rough and at times tender.
