5 Fang Review! Dimitri by Kym Grosso

An erotic paranormal romance…

Dimitri LeBlanc, sexy and charismatic beta of Acadian Wolves, survives a brutal attack after his wolf succumbs to a dark force, threatening his very existence. Waking up, tied to a bed, his amusement transforms into lust as a beautiful stranger heals his beast. Intrigued by his mysterious savior, the tables quickly turn, when in the heat of a dark desert night, he rescues her from a barbaric Alpha. Dimitri is inexplicably drawn to the alluring woman, and the discovery that she’s his mate rouses his hunger to claim her as his own.

Gillian Michel, a New York City photographer, conceals a secret hybrid past and mystical abilities. An entire lifetime, she’s deliberately avoided wolves, but a seductive encounter with an irresistible beta leaves her craving his touch, his lips on hers. Passion ignites her desire, leaving her yearning to submit to the powerful wolf who tests her sexual limits.

Deep in the heart of New Orleans, Dimitri and Gillian seek a cure to the parasite maligning his mighty beast. Still on the run from a malevolent force, they lure their enemy into the bayou. Will Gillian sacrifice her gifts to save the man she loves, destroying her own immortality? And will Dimitri eradicate the evil that has invaded his soul while protecting his mate from an adversary who threatens to kill them both?

My Review

Holy steamy-pants batman! This is one hot read, that’s for sure. In addition to being HOT, Dimitri also has a great story line. How much will you sacrifice to be with the one you love?  How do you escape from someone who is trying to steal that all-important piece of you that is meant only for your mate?

I like that there aren’t tons of sex scenes because it makes the ones Grosso does include that much steamier. There is passion between the characters and a bit of kink in the form of m/f/m. Kym Grosso really knows how to write a romance scene, that’s for sure!

The characters were interesting and easy to relate to in many ways. Dimitri and Gillian (Gilly) make an awesome couple. Her characters were each attractive in their own way and had enough good qualities to balance out any bad things they may have going on; except, of course, for the bad guy who is trying to force Gilly to be his mate! He’s a serious jerk and I wanted to kill him myself for what he put Gilly through! Dimitri is a very strong and sexy typical alpha male, though he only desires to be the beta to his alpha Logan. I guess some guys just don’t feel the need to lead! I didn’t think it took away from the strength of his character in my opinion.

My only complaint is while the animal Gilly shifts into sounds very beautiful, I expected it to be a bit more exotic.

Dimitri is a great book overall and I absolutely enjoyed reading it. I have only recently started reading the Immortals of New Orleans series. I started with book 5, which was the book before Dimitri. I have yet to go back and read the previous books in the series, and at no point have I felt the slightest bit confused about what is going on.

I will recommend Dimitri to most of my friends and my followers who like shifter books. From what I’ve read of this series, I really want to go back and read the rest of the books! 5 fangs all the way!
