She thinks that the worst that can happen is she'll be bored to death, but it seems that the wicked warden of the institute plans to keep her imprisoned indefinitely in the detention center, along with all the other kids trapped behind its dark walls. .

In an attempt to escape, Carla discovers the monster on the fourth floor and uncovers a darker purpose to the institution. She will have to fight for her freedom if she wants to go home. She will have to break all the rules if she wants to survive...

Detention is not your everyday teen book. Carla is purple. She doesn’t fit in with the green population. She is sent to an institution for “rehabilitation” after muddying someone’s rug. She vows to behave, but that’s just not in the cards.

This is a great, fun and short read. I was immediately sucked into Carla’s story and I was only disappointed that I finished it so quickly. Chilton’s fun sense of humor is evident in Carla’s personality and in the general writing of Detention. The acronym for the institute is C.R.A.P.

I’m curious to see where this series goes next.
