Seriously. Why does a new hair dryer have a twelve-page how-to manual, but when it comes to ancient demon-fighting hocus-pocus, my biker witch granny gives me just half a dozen switch stars and a rah-rah speech? Oh, and a talking terrier, but that's another story. It's not like my job as a preschool teacher prepared me for this kind of thing.
So I've decided to write my own manual, The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers, because no one tells me anything. Dimitri, my "protector," may be one stud of a shape-shifting griffin, but he always thinks he can handle everything by himself. Only he's no match for the soul-stealing succubi taking over Las Vegas. If I can't figure out how to save him - and Sin City - there'll be hell to pay.

I can’t remember if I have reviewed the first book in this series yet. If not then we will go out of order. The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers brings us back to Lizzie. For those who haven’t read the first book, Lizzie is a young 20 something woman. On her birthday her grandmother shows up and drops a bomb. First, she is from a line of powerful witch types. Second, demons on enroute to kill her. Third, her life is toast, and she has to leave with G-ma. There is some other stuff, but that is the main gist of the first book.
So the book kicks off with Lizzie learning that she had to go to Vegas to train to be a bad ass demon slayer. There is a test and license and everything. Oh but she hasn’t trained so there is that. There is also the fact that there is a guy who wants her to help him, but that her guardian hates is in Vegas. Oh and baddies are all over Vegas. It is like a convention or something. Most importantly to Lizzie is her uncle’s safety. So a bunch of stuff happening in Vegas.
Don’t take my flippant attitude for not liking the story. I did like it. Of the three it isn’t my favorite, but I still think that the first one is better than the second and third. I mean floor 13 was pretty cool, and I like how the author made sure to mention it later. Pirate is the same cute, wiseass dog that he was in the first one. The witches are not as prominent as in the first story. Neither is the Griffin. I mean he makes a scene, but not continuously.
This story served a very important purpose between one and three, and I do not discredit this. Her coming into her own, not only as a demon slayer, but as a person is a large part of this story. Lizzie was a bar hopping girl who had to become a grown woman in a very short amount of time. After the events of the first book, Lizzie had to find her balance and determine her own path. There was a lot of ‘poor me’, and ‘what about me’ attitude which I could have done without. Will she become the demon slayer that everyone expects her to?
