Creepy Crate Box #2

Well, this shipment wasn’t nearly as satisfying for me as the previous one was. It didn’t totally suck, the box contained some decent items, it just wasn’t as exciting as I was expecting. This box was inspired by “…bone chilling artwork: eerie photographs, serial killer paintings, and even macabre writing utensils.”

The “All my friends are Creepy” t-shirt was cool. It featured a picture of the black-eyed children of legend. Coincidentally enough, author Corey J. Popp released his new book “Curse of the Black Eyed Kids” right around the same time I got this box.  That book kept me up for 2 or 3 nights in a row by the way! I do quite like the shirt as it fits well and has yet to fade despite being washed numerous times already.

The only serial killer artwork featured is from John Wayne Gacy’s prison painting titled “Goodbye Pongo.” It is in the form of a travel mug, which I do like and have used quite a bit. So far, it seems to be holding up pretty well. I guess when the description said “serial killer paintings,” I expected there to be more than one serial killer featured.

This box also contained a set of female killer buttons. They are somewhat neat, but not overly exciting. There are old spirit photograph post cards with photos taken by William Hope. He was a photographer in the early 1900’s who claimed to be able to capture photos of spirits. Personally, I think he faked them. I think the people at The Line Up picked the cheesiest, most obviously faked pictures they could find. There was also a bone pen, coffee, and a 1-month subscription to Horror movie channel Screambox. I haven’t tried the coffee or Screambox yet.

In the last shipment, I discovered the “free download” of a featured book can only be read on my computer of phone. There is no way to download it to my e-reader. I feel this part of the offer is useless. It’s rather disappointing because I was looking forward to reading that first book, but I can’t read on my computer and my kids steal my phone all the time.

Overall, I’m not sure how I feel about this subscription box. The first shipment was so great but this one was more disappointing. I’m hoping the next one will be better. That will determine whether I renew my subscription or not. It’s supposed to be inspired by Horror movies, so we will see.
