If you have not read anything by author Violet Howe, go read something. I particularly like her Diary series, but she is a good author. Now, I have known Violet for years now, so when she said that she was working with a group of accomplished authors on a series, of course I wanted to read it.
The first book in the series is essentially an anthology of each girl and the mom Madeline. Each chapter is by a different author and they start the series off explaining how they came together. Madeline, the mother decides to take four girls in, four girls that would otherwise not have a home for christmas. She not only does it to help these girls, but to help her heart. See Madeline lost her family, and in a way that she blames herself. No matter what people tell her, she will blame herself, and by helping those girls she finds a reason t0 keep fighting. To keep fighting for herself, and now for the girls that are in her care. She can’t let any of them down.
One thing I enjoy about this story is that each author took a different character, so Jo, Stevie, Alissa, and little Hailey are all personalized by their author. This is unique and something that I think is very well done in this book. I can’t forget Madeline and how she is her own individual character with flaws and lots of love to give.
This book is perma free as it is the first book in the series. It is also only 90 pages and really gets into how the sisters came to be soul sisters. It gives you a taste of each author’s writing style as well as a snippet of what is to come in the books.
