A BIG congratulations to Margo Bond Collins after this
exciting announcement on her Facebook page!

“It’s official! I have signed a three-book deal with Boroughs Publishing Group for the Night Shift series, including an expanded and revised version of Sanguinary, a novel-length version of the short story “Bound by Blood,” and a third novel entitled Desert Alchemy.”

Review: Bound By Blood by Margo Bond Collins

Sometimes the monsters in the dark are real...

As a child, Lili Banta ignored her grandmother's cryptic warnings to avoid children outside their Filipino community in Houston. When many of those other children fell ill, Lili ignored the whispers in her community that a vampiric aswang walked among them.

Years later, Lili returns to Houston to work for the Quarantine Station of the Center for Disease Control—but she is plagued by dark, bloody dreams that consume her nights and haunt her days. When a strange illness attacks the city's children, Lili is called in to find its source, and maybe even a cure.

But in order to save the city, she must first acknowledge the sinister truth: A monster stalks the night—closer than she ever expected....

This was a super fast super intense read for me. I was a little bit confused as to what was going on at times, but I think that had to do more with my being constantly interrupted while reading than it did with the actual writing.

While I was confused at times, I enjoyed Bound By Blood very much. Margo Bond Collins has become one of my favorite authors since I started my blog. Her books are always full of fresh ideas and interesting characters. Bound by Blood fits the bill perfectly.

I felt terrible for the main character, Lili, in this book. I can’t tell you why, but it’s pretty bad. The concepts that this author has going on are different from anything I’ve read before and I think if you have a little bit of time to kill, you should check out Bound By Blood. It’s an easy read, and has some unique ideas going on.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The receipt of this book did not imply or guarantee a favorable review, nor did it influence my opinion of this book.
