Welcome to Vegas. Home of the Sin City Collectors. The job description is easy: Bring the offending supernatural in to the Boss and don't ask any questions.
Diesel Jones is a shifter with moon issues. Not the best combination to have. His dream of becoming a Sin City Collector had always lingered in the shadows because of his inability to control himself under a full moon. When Louie Fiore decides to test his merit, and gives him a job for the agency, Diesel jumps at the chance. But when he finds out he has to come up against an incubus, painful issues from the past resurface, and instead of bringing the sex demon in, he only has one thing on his mind--kill.Sofia Cabrera is the new witch in town, and she's more than anyone bargained for. She finds herself drawn to Diesel, the sexy shifter, the first moment she lays eyes on him. When she becomes the target of an organization of incubi, who take what they want without asking, Diesel comes to her aid unexpectedly. They end up fighting the threat together, and in the process, Sofia discovers she--and she alone--can tame his rages.

Melanie’s Review
As usual, Amanda Carlson immediately sucked me into her book and held me prisoner there until I ran out of book to read; And once again, her book ended before I was finished reading. This isn’t a new thing for me, I have enjoyed all of her books immensely and wouldn’t complain if they all were longer. The fact that she can cause me to become as emotionally wrapped up in her characters in such a short time, as the Sin City Collectors books are all Novellas, is pretty freakin’ amazing to me.
Ante Up is the 3rd book in the Sin City Collectors series. In this book Carlson continues to create these awesome characters that absolutely belong in the world that she has created for them. Her characters have a sense of humor, which I personally love and I think it makes the character more realistic. They have a level of humanity to them that makes their Otherness not so noticeable. I mean this in the sense that they experience the same sorts of things we do as humans, such as relationships with friends and loved ones, the desire to repair those relationships, and loyalty to those they care about. Maybe if more humans in this world acted like these things were important, our world would be a better place.
Diesel Jones is a stereotypical Alpha male shifter. He has some issues with his beast that he has struggled to keep under control for years with no idea if he will ever be able to control it. He’s strong physically and mentally. He owns Hellhounds,” a bar in Las Vegas that caters to the supernatural crowd. He desperately wants to become a collector, but knows the chances are slim until he can control his beast.
One of the things I have always liked about Carlson’s books is that there are multiple climax types of situations throughout the book. Due to this style of storytelling, I could never figure out which tension causing situation was going to be resolved or when. I really like being surprised!
Once again, I will recommend Amanda Carlson’s books to anyone who likes paranormal romance, with a bit of humor and a decent amount of action. So far the stories seem to be following a similar path from start to finish, but it’s not so obvious that it takes away from the story you are reading, nor does it feel repetitive. It was a fun read and I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the characters and seeing what kind of shenanigans Amanda Carlson will put her characters through!
