Hi, I’m Melanie. I live in Central Florida with my husband, 2 daughters, a son and a ninja cat named Jinx. I grew up in Jacksonville, NC as a Marine Corps brat. I’ve always lived in a coastal state except for the 6 months I lived in Kentucky. I love the beach and just doing things outside. My idea of a great day is sitting on the beach with my feet in the sand and a book in my hand. My husband used to tease me that I was the only person he had ever met that could fish and read at the same time. I have been in love with books and reading for as long as I can remember. I will read anything I can. I prefer paranormal, but have been known to read everything from normal fiction, to shampoo bottles. When I read, to me, it’s like watching a movie in my head. It has always been my escape from the real world. Like so many others, as a child, I got in trouble for sneaking books into bed and being caught reading after bedtime.

 

I decided to start writing reviews when I realized that I have read so many good books, and have had so much to say about them, but no one to talk to with about what I’ve read.

 

I really love helping readers find their new favorite author or favorite book. 

 

You may notice that there are no (ok maybe a few) negative reviews on my blog. This is because I choose to keep this site for the positive side of the book world. I will only be posting about books I enjoyed reading, so that you can find and enjoy them as well. This does NOT mean that I don’t write negative reviews. It just means that I don’t post them here. You can find all of my reviews on my Amazon and  Goodreads pages.

 

Life is too short to read books you aren’t enjoying. As a mom of 3, I really really don’t have time to read books I don’t like. I choose my books very carefully and if I’m less than halfway through a book and not enjoying it, I won’t torture myself trying to finish it. I just don’t have time for that. I refuse to spend hours reading a book that I’m not feeling and I generally won’t write a review for a book I didn’t finish. I don’t think it’s fair to the readers or the authors because I have no idea what happens in those pages I didn’t read. For all I know something amazing happened. 

 

I prefer to read Horror, Paranormal, Paranormal Romance (if it’s light on the romance, I’m not into the lovey dovey stuff, I would rather read about someone getting their face ripped off than about someone falling in love), Urban Fantasy, and Speculative Fiction.

I want to let everyone know that I currently have 10 books on my TBR and I am reading 2 books currently as of 9/30/2017.  I usually read two to three at a time, obviously you can tell I am reading more than that right now.  Spices it up for me :).   Because I read science fiction it does take a little longer to get through books being they are three times what others are.  I am still accepting review requests, but please note 1 of 2 things.    If you want to see what I am currently reading you can check out my Goodreads page.  I am trying to be better on putting reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.

 

 

Figured it was probably time to introduce myself.  My name is Andi and I am the other half of Fang Freakin Tastic.   I live in The Dalles, Oregon which is a pretty small town on the Columbia River.  I am from an even smaller town of Crescent which is in central Oregon and about the size of a match box.   After finishing High School I went to college at Pacific University were I met my wonderful sisters at Theta Nu Alpha.  After switching from a Bio/Chem Pre Med course to a History/Sociology double major I graduated and took off for the big town of Crescent.  I had been accepted to two Graduate schools but I didn’t have the resources to pull of Hawaii at that time so I went home, worked, and gained some much needed peace of mind.  Low and Behold I met my husband who was stationed in Hawaii about half way through my year of inner monologue.   We met, we fell in love, we got engaged, he deployed, I went to school, he came back, and we got married.  After some moving around we felt like The Dalles could be home and that is where we are at.    Oh and I have a minion, a very cute minion, imagery to come.

 

 

I am your run of the mill military historian that has way to much free time on her hands so I write, read, volunteer, blog, cross stitch, watch tv.  The list could go on forever.  My dad introduced me to Tom Clancy, Stephan King, Dean Knootz, and Michael Crichton by the time I was 12.  I read science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, supernatural, murder mystery, Forensic Pathology, fictional history, non-fictional history, erotica, horror, and I am sure I am missing something.  If it reads good I will read it.  If it reads bad, no matter the genre I will not read it.

 

 

I have 4000 books at my parents house safely stored.  Here I just had to make a new bookcase because my other two were full.  So I created a 8 shelf bookcase to get 5 total shelves out of it.   Yes I made the bookcase, and I swore that I had a picture of it, but I can’t find it.
